D'Banj interviews president Goodluck Jonathan

D'Banj interviewed President Goodluck Jonathan today. The interview will air on Silverbird TV at 8:30pm tomorrow 18th March, 2011. Watch out for it.

How is it that the President of the Federal Republic doesn't want to be interviewed by journalists but doesn't mind sitting down for an entertainer? What exactly is D'banj going to ask him? He will probably kiss-ass throughout the interview (D'banj is one of the many Naija entertainers campaigning for the president). Now a Chude Jideonwo or a Tolu Ogunlesi, or the guys from 'What About Us' would have done a better job.
I don't know what to make of PDP anymore. Please Vote, but think well before you do!

Sister stabs brother to death over banana

The police  in Lagos State have arrested a  25-year-old lady, Queen Nnenna Eneguwe, who allegedly stabbed her 18-year-old brother to death over a disagreement that ensued over   some pieces of banana.

The police are also ascertaining  the circumstances surrounding the death of the 18-year-old boy, identified as,  Thankgod Eneguwa,  who died on Tuesday  night.

The deceased and his sister were, until the incidence, residents of 24 Bankole Street, Idi Oro at Mushin area of the state,  and had, reportedly, in the past, had disagreements.

Militants bomb Agip facility in Bayelsa

Multiple explosions on Tuesday night rocked Agip flow station in Egbema-Angalabiri and Letugbene in Bayelsa State. In Port Harcourt on Wednesday, there was a bomb scare at the city’s airport, necessitating the evacuation of an Arik Air plane, while Aso Rock chose Lagos as its launch pad to ease tension.

Presidential Adviser on Niger Delta, Kingsley Kuku, disclosed in Lagos that the government is ready to talk to the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) to stave off its threat issued on Monday to bomb Abuja, Lagos, and the Deep South. Abuja will engage the MEND to find lasting peace, Kuku stated, stressing that the line of dialogue is open, as there is no illusion that the MEND does not exist.
However, down in Bayelsa, Joint Task Force Spokesman, Lt. Col. Timothy Antigha, said the explosions were politically motivated as they did not occur anywhere close to the oil facility. But it was learnt that the explosions were planted by a militant group headed by the man with the alias of General Commander Plasma, who had a fortnight ago written to Agip for the payment of an undisclosed amount of money or face attack.
Leader of the Movement for Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP), Ledum Mitee, condemned the blasts.

Scientists predict possible earthquake, tsunami in Nigeria

After the earthquake and tsunami that struck north eastern Japan last Friday, the question on the lips of most Nigerians is “can such happen in the country?”
A REVIEW of earthquake occurrences and observations in Nigeria by Ofonime Umo Akpan and Tahir Abubakar Yakubu published recently in EARTHQUAKE SCIENCE indicates that although Nigeria is not located within the major seismic zones of the world; several minor earthquakes have been experienced in some parts of the country, over the years.
The first widely reported occurrence of an Earth tremor in Nigeria was in 1933. Other events were reported in 1939, 1964, 1984, 1990, 1994, 1997, 2000 and 2006. The intensities of these events ranged from III to VI based on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale. Of these events, only the 1984, 1990, 1994 and 2000 events were instrumentally recorded. They had body wave magnitudes ranging from 4.3 to 4.5, local magnitudes between 3.7 and 4.2, and surface wave magnitudes of 3.7 to 3.9.
Last year, Nigerian scientists at the National Space Research and Development Agency (NARSDA) warned that Nigeria should be prepared for earthquake experience.

Goodluck Jonathan demands apology and retraction from Next Newspaper

President Goodluck Jonathan has demanded an apology and a retraction fromNext Newspaper, that reported he voted four times in the 2007 general elections.

Next newspaper reported that Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole told some US diplomats in December 2008 that Goodluck Jonathan voted four times as Vice President in the April 2007 election. This report was published yesterday Sunday March 6th. Adams Oshiomhole has since denied making such comments.

Goodluck Jonathan is mad as hell and has hreatened to go to court to seek redress if the apology and retraction isn't done asap.

The initial Next report link and press statement from Oshiomhole's camp when you continue...

Press Release
Re: Jonathan voted four times in 2007
Our attention has been drawn to the above titled lead story of the Next on Sunday published on Sunday, March 6, 2011, which falsely alluded that the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole told some US diplomats in December 2008, that President Goodluck Jonathan voted four times as Vice President in the April 2007 election.

We are completely at a loss how the newspaper came to that conclusion which is attributed to the highly controversial whistleblower site,Wikileaks and said to have been made exclusively to it.  We wish to say that at no time did the governor ever made such a weighty allegation against President Goodluck Jonathan. It is obvious that there was a clear mix-up in the story as the person in reference is the former Military Vice President, Admiral Augustus Aikhomu, whose name was tendered in court as haven voted four times during the epic case to regain the mandate popularly given to Oshiomhole by the Edo people and not President Goodluck Jonathan.

In addition, what was tendered in court was the electoral register bearing the names of voters in Edo State which had nothing to do with Jonathan who voted in Bayelsa.
Why we still ponder over the import of the strange linkage to the President, we are particularly moved not to suspect that the newspaper is opening its flanks to the whims of mischief makers or some unscrupulous elements who deliberately wish to drive a wedge between Jonathan and Oshiomhole.
We wish to place on record that there was no where either in the tendered court documents or the brief with the US diplomats where President Jonathan’s name featured as haven voted four times. We want to plead that the media should endeavour to verify its facts painstakingly before going to press in order to avoid causing unnecessary disaffection.

Tony Iyare
Special Adviser,
Media Affairs to Edo State Governor.

The Dagrin Movie Project recently got a major boost as the producer of the movie, Ope Banwo acquired the exact Nissan Maxima in which Dagrin had the ill-fated accident that led to his death for a huge sum of money.

Investigations revealed that the decision to use the Nissan MAxima with customized plate Dgrin 03 was birthed by Barrister Ope Banwo who suggested that for justice to be done to the movie, it is necessary to use the exact car in which Dagrin had the accident in recreating the fatal accident. The car which had been sold to scrap dealers in Owode Oniran was first priced at one million naira a price that Ope Banwo did not find palatable but due to the importance of the car to the development of the story, Ope Banwo continued with the negotiation and soon brought Rachael Oniga, a cast of the movie who knows some big boys in Owode to be involved in the deliberation; it was later agreed that the car be sold for half a million naira.
