US warns it’s citizens in Nigeria of attacks on luxury hotels by Boko Haram

The US has warned that a militant Islamist group is planning to bomb three luxury hotels in Abuja after 150 people were killed in coordinated attacks in northeast Nigeria.

The five-star Hilton, Nicon Luxury and Sheraton hotels in Nigeria’s capital, which are frequented by diplomats, politicians and Nigeria’s business elite, were identified by the US embassy.
In an unusually specific warning on Sunday, US diplomats have advised their staff to avoid luxury hotels in Abuja. The embassy said the attack may come as Nigeria celebrates the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha. Experts say the militant Islamist group Boko Haram, which claimed responsibility for Friday’s violence and threatened more attacks, is working with al Qaeda which could push Nigeria into a Somalia-style civil war.

The series of synchronised bombings on churches, mosques and police headquarters and running gun battles took place in Damaturu, capital of Yobe state. There were also synchronised attacks in Maiduguri, capital of neighbouring Borno state, and two small towns.

The $200m Entertainment Intervention Fund Is An Imaginary Money

Early this year, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was in Lagos for his Bring Back the Book initiative campaign at Eko Hotels and Suites. The event was part of his plans in getting people to support his election as a substantive president of Nigeria, as he was then an acting president, and the polls were getting near.

At the event, where youth and the entertainment bigwigs attended in large number, the President, then an acting President promised an intervention fund for the entertainment industry in the sum of $200m, as a support to the industry, which has involved in making many youth of the country superstars.

But since the said fund has been announced to the industry, little or no success has been heard about anyone to have been able to access the money meant for them, as a form of loans for the use of the entertainment industry and its stakeholders. Many heads have rolled and enemies made because of the pronouncement.

But according to Olurotimi Aina Kusoro, the man in control of High Waves Video Marts, a top movie marketing company, he asked, “do you know what great trouble that said money has cause the industry?”

“There are some people in the industry that are superstars when it comes to government matters, the Amaka Igwes, the Zeb Ejiros, the Jide Kosokos and the Adebayo Salamis (Oga Bello). If these people have not been able to access this money, then nobody in Nigeria can access it.”

The suspected suicide attack managed to topple one wing of the building

At least 16 people were killed, according to the Nigerian Red Cross, when a car packed with explosives was detonated outside the United Nations' main office in Nigeria's capital this morning, flattening one wing of the building.

A UN official in Geneva said that the explosion was caused by a bomb, and initial reports suggest that it was a suicide attack and many more people are feared dead.

The final number of casualties at the Abuja building, which was also attacked by a car bomb last month, has not yet been determined - but the Nigerian Red Cross has confirmed that at least 16 are dead.

Cash withdrawal limits stand, says Sanusi

The governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has turned down the request of senators to increase the threshold of free cash withdrawal to be enforced by CBN's latest cash withdrawal policy.
Mr Sanusi, in company of his deputies, could not wait to leave the Senate Hearing Room 1 venue of the Thursday meeting with members of the senate committee on Banking, Insurance and other financial institutions before he declined the senators' request to slack the policy.

"For now, let us leave it at that," he told the senators shortly after they made their views known on the policy.
Mr Sanusi explained that although the variables in the policy are not cast in stone, it is an ambitious target the organisation hopes to achieve. The senators were worried the new policy would scare bank customers and in the long run make doing business in Nigeria more expensive.

Officials: SEALs thought bin Laden went for weapon

Bin Laden dead

Blood on the floor of one of the rooms at Osama bin Laden's compound in Pakistan
OSAMA BIN LADEN was unarmed when commandos burst into his room and shot him dead, the White House has revealed, raising questions about whether the US ever planned to capture the terrorist leader alive.
The Obama administration, meanwhile, was still debating whether to release gruesome images of bin Laden's corpse, balancing efforts to demonstrate to the world that he was dead against the risk that the images could provoke further anti-US sentiment.

Osama bin Laden killed in Pakistan, Obama says

0501_osama_bin_laden_bn

Osama bin Laden, the Saudi extremist whose al-Qaida terrorist organization killed more than 3,000 people in coordinated attacks on the U.S. on Sept. 11, 2001, is dead following a military operation in Pakistan and the U.S. has recovered his body, U.S. President Barack Obama announced Sunday night. "Justice has been done," the president declared as crowds formed outside the White House to celebrate, singing "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "We Are the Champions," NBC News reported.

Obama said bin Laden, 54, whom he called a terrorist "responsible for the murder of thousands of American men, women and children," was killed in Pakistan earlier in the day after a firefight at a compound in the city of Abbottabad in a military operation that was based on U.S. intelligence.
Other U.S. officials said one of bin Laden's sons and two of his most trusted couriers also were killed, as was an unidentified woman who was used as a human shield.
The news immediately raised concerns that reprisal attacks from al-Qaida and other Islamist extremist groups could follow soon.

The Royal Wedding: William & Kate’s Magical Day

The most watched wedding on the planet EVER!
Prince William wed Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey in London.
Kate wore a stunning dress by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Kate’s dress had long lace sleeves and a sweetheart neckline with a full skirt cinched at the waist.
According to People Magazine online;
The dress was made by hand, using French Chantilly lace and English Cluny lace throughout the bodice, skirt and underskirt. The skirt, made of ivory and white satin gazar, was designed to emulate an opening flower: padded at the hips, it flowed out to the floor. The back of the dress was finished with 58 gazar and organza covered buttons fastened by Rouleau loops.
Kate wore her brunette locks in cascading curls. She topped the look with a ivory silk tulle veil, which was trimmed with hand-embroidered flowers. It was held in place by a Cartier ‘halo’ tiara, lent to Kate by the Queen. She also wore diamond drop earrings by Robinson Pelham, a gift from her parents.
Her Prince, William wore the red tunic of an Irish Guards colonel.
