D'Banj and Glo part ways

D'Banj is no longer a Glo ambassador. The Telecoms Giant have terminated their contract with him.
Though no official statement has been issued by Glo, but sources say the koko master was dropped after he refused to sign a new contract extension after his fee was dropped from N70m (for two years) to far N25m.
D'Banj felt insulted by the new fee, which sources say is less than what was offered P-Square, so refused to extend his contract.
But despite the end of the business relationship, D'Banj's photographs will still be used in all Glo promotional materials until his initial contract elapses.*
I run a modeling agency and my models have featured on a few Glo billboards. Glo doesn't pay models more than 300grand for a year's contract. A far cry from N25m a year for a celeb...which they are even rejecting.
See why models in Nigeria don't have money? Imagine they pay models just a fraction of what these celebs get...oh well, one day sha..:-)

Uti Nwachukwu
The winner of Big Brother Africa All Stars, Uti Nwachukwu of Nigeria was back in Nigeria few days ago with a carnival-like welcome-back party. In fact a lot of organisations, including his home state governor of Delta State, Gov. Uduaghan has been out-doing themselves to host Him.

However, 411daily gathered on good authority that Dr. Mike Adenuga (Jnr), Chairman and owner of Nigeria’s leading telecommunications company, Globacom, trading as glo, is going to sign him on as an ambassador in the next few days.

According to information at our disposal, Uti has already been reached by Adenuga himself and he has tentatively agreed to become a Glo ambassador. Sources say the contract is worth in the neigbourhood of $700 000USD (N105 000 000).

Uti has already attended an event held by Globacom where he got to meet other Globacom ambassadors like Ramsey Nouah, Kate Henshaw, Rita Dominic, Desomnd Elliot and Ini Edo. The contract we hear, is going to be announced in the coming weeks, where Uti will be presented to Nigerians through a press conference as the latest Globacom ambassador.
Globacom recently signed on Nigeria’s music sensation, PSquare for over $1.5 million USD.

Meanwhile, Uti was stranded for several minutes on a lift conveying him to the Minister for Information’s office (Dora Akinyuli) somewhere on the Eight floor, Uti was accompanied by some top management staff of Mnet and Dstv when the lift stopped halfway and trapping them in it.

The situation was however sorted out after a technical team came to work on the lift

Nollywood star, Aki, survives surgery … Still hospitalized

Aki

What could have been another calamity in Nollywood was averted over the weekend when star actor, Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as ‘Aki’ underwent a successful operation for acute appendicitis.

Aki, who is unarguably one of the biggest names in Nollywood, is still on the hospital bed recuperating as at the time of filing this report.

We further gathered that the Uzoakoli, Abia State-born thespian, was rushed to a hospital in Ogba, Lagos, in the evening of last Saturday by some family members and friends, including his acting twin brother, Osita Iheme (Pawpaw).

“Upon arrival on Saturday evening, Aki was immediately admitted and later wheeled to the theatre in the early hours of Sunday, where one Dr. Charles Davids, a consultant surgeon, successfully performed the operation. He is still at the hospital recuperating and is expected to be discharged within the next two or three days,” said a family member.

While confirming the story, the multiple award winning actor said he cannot thank God enough for saving his life.

“Azuh, sincerely, to God be the glory that the whole operation went well. Although, I’m still on the hospital bed recuperating, I’m full of thanks and praises to God for seeing me through. I also thank my family and friends that rushed me to the hospital and equally kept vigil throughout by praying fervently for me. I also thank my fans and colleagues who kept calling,” he said on phone.

On how the whole thing started, the HND Mass Communications graduate of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, said he could not comprehend what could have led to it. “I just knew that I was feeling serious pains that Saturday and when I could no longer bear it, I was rushed to the hospital and was on admission till the operation was successfully performed very early the following day. I feel strong and better now and cannot wait to be discharged.”

Aki, with over one hundred movies to his credit in Nollywood, became a household name when he alongside Pawpaw thrilled movie buffs in the monster hit movie, Aki na Ukwa, from the stable of Kas-Vid Internationa
