Cable: Nigerian president had kidney transplant

Lagos — LATE President Umaru Yar'Adua had a kidney transplant in 2002 while still a state governor in Katsina State, but avoided having another one while he was President over fears it would cause unrest, according to diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks.

Late President Umar Yar'Adua...had kidney transplant in 2002. The cables suggest the country's top power brokers in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, knew about Yar'Adua's condition, but still propped him up to become the winning presidential candidate in 2007. Aides to the President stuffed his clothes to hide his weight loss and used makeup to hide his pallor, the cables claim, but his illness ultimately led to a long absence from the country that fuelled public discontent.

Yar'Adua died in May 2010, propelling Vice President Goodluck Jonathan into the presidency. Jonathan recently became the ruling party's presidential candidate for the coming April election, upsetting a balance of power in the country. Wikileaks quoted a diplomatic cable from February 2009 as stating: "What is clear is that the president's health is a matter of growing concern, particularly on the minds of the northern Nigerian elite. We have noted a considerable uptick in what appears to be behind-the-scenes machinations and back-room dealing.

Boko Haram Kills Deeper Life Pastor

A Deeper Life Bible Church pastor and three other Christians have been killed by Muslim extremists called Boko Haram in Maiduguri, Borno State, Northern Nigeria in a renewed sectarian violence.

As a result of the wanton killings of Christians in the north, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN has told Christians to use whatever means to defend themselves when attacked by the fanatics. It was mourning in the Deeper Life Bible Church in Maiduguri when the news of the death of Pastor Michael Medugu, a District Pastor, was made known to church members.

German Big Brother star dies after sixth breast enlargement operation.

A German porn star has died following complications during her sixth breast enlargement. Cora, real name Carolin Berger, had been in a coma for nine days following the operation when she died yesterday.

The 23-year-old had gone under the knife to boost her bust from a 34F to a 34G. The clinic in Germany where she had the enhancement is now being investigated. Her family were called to the hospital where they were told that Cora had been without oxygen during the op for 15 minutes and was in 'serious condition'.

The heavily tattooed adult actress had come to the nation's attention as a contestant in the German Big Brother house last year.

Charles Okah slumps in court, rushed to hospital

ABUJA — There was a mild drama at the Federal High Court in Abuja, Tuesday, when Charles Okah, who was alleged to have masterminded several acts of terrorist activities across the nation, slumped in the middle of court  proceedings and feigned death.

Charles who is the younger brother to the embattled ex-leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, Henry Okah, is facing trial alongside three others accused of committing acts of terrorism and other treasonable offences against the Federal Republic of Nigeria at different times and various places.

Barely few minutes after hearing resumed, yesterday, on one of the criminal charges filed against them by the government, the trial Judge in the matter, Justice Gabriel Kolawole, observed that Okah looked sick and ordered the court clerks to provide a chair for him to sit in the dock, but before the chair was brought, he fell flat on his face and stretched to full length.

“Actress Sikiratu Sindodo Under Spiritual Attack”

Yoruba movie actress Tayo Odueke popularly known as Sikiratu Sindodo has been ill for over four months. She was admitted and been taken care of at a private ward in Lagos University Teaching Hosiptal where she is undergoing treatment for what doctor can’t seem to rightly diagnose. The fair complexioned and bubbly actress is said to have lost her weight extremely with very darkened skin and movement of her arms and leg restricted.

The actress is also finding it hard to make use of the toilet, a source informs.

She was apparently not keeping a low profile as assume by media reports following her absence on the scene. Doctors however insist she is suffering from chronic ulcer and liver problem. After months of trying conventional medicine and failing, her family his calling on well wishers to pray for the actress. Her family also decided to seek spiritual help as they invited two spiritualist to see her at her ward for a solution. Both spiritualist insist it is a spiritual attack which is caused by self misfortune.

Breaking News: Armed Robbers Attack Mr. Nigeria; Shoot Him 7 Times

It was a horrible day for Mr. Nigeria 2010, Kenneth Okolie on the dusk of Tuesday, January 4, 2010 while driving along Festac road in Lagos, as unknown gun men ambushed him, robbed him off his jewelry and accessories worth N350, 000; and upon taking off shot at him seven times – burying 7 bullets inside his body.

Survivor Okolie who was rushed to the hospital on time by good samaritans in the neighborhood recounted his ordeal to us over the telephone; revealing that the doctors had already removed six bullets from his body.
